Ayman Mohamed

Ayman Mohamed is an assistant professor of Arabic at Michigan State University. He started his career as an instructor of English conversation and TOEFL preparation in Egypt in the years of 2002-2008. 

He pursued graduate studies in the U.S, obtaining an MA degree in Linguistics and ESL from the University of North Texas under a Fulbright grant. In 2015, He received his PhD from Michigan State University SLS Program with a focus on second language vocabulary acquisition. His research interests include task-based learning, incidental vocabulary acquisition and using eye tracking techniques in second language reading. Dr. Mohamed has taught all levels of Arabic at MSU, as well as Egyptian dialect classes. In addition, Dr. Mohamed worked on developing the Arabic curriculum at MSU, by building and teaching Arabic online classes for the intermediate levels, as well as, online materials for advanced Arabic. He has also given independent studies on various topics such as media Arabic, and legal Arabic. Lastly, he has given the Arabic faculty at MSU lectures on the acquisition of vocabulary, his area of expertise. He is currently working on developing new courses for the Arabic department such as Business Arabic and culture studies. His research interests include vocabulary teaching and learning, eye tracking in second language reading, incidental vocabulary acquisition, task-based learning , and the pedagogy of hybrid language classes.
