Congratulations to Debra Hardison and Maritza Medina González, whose article “Assistive Design for English Phonetic Tools (ADEPT) in Language Learning” has been awarded best paper in 2022 by the journal Language Learning & Technology. The article outlines tools used to teach phonetics and pronunciation using auditory-visual-tactual integration through the use of visual-tactile IPA symbol cards and an auditory-visual companion website based on the Universal Design for Learning guidelines. The study was lauded for its focus on visually-impaired learners, a population that has been under-served.
