To develop further insight into the culture and learn more Hebrew, students are strongly encouraged to spend a significant period of time in Israel.
The Serling Institute for Jewish Studies and Modern Israel at MSU offers a faculty-led month-long program in the summer at Hebrew University in Jerusalem. The MSU Summer Program at Hebrew University gives students the opportunity to live in and experience Israel while earning 8 academic credits. For students interested in going in the summer on their own, or during the regular academic year for a semester or year, all major Israeli institutions – Hebrew University, Haifa University, Tel Aviv University and Ben-Gurion University of the Negev offer international programs. All MSU students seeking to pursue study at an Israeli institution of higher education and who meet the minimum GPA requirement of 2.5 are eligible to apply for generous scholarships administered by the Serling Institute. The Levy Scholarship for the Serling Institute Summer Program at Hebrew University is $4000. It is available to all students who have the required GPA for the program.
