Fully Funded PhD Position in German Studies with a focus on Digital Humanities

The German Studies Program at Michigan State University seeks a doctoral student focused on digital humanities to work as a graduate research assistant for the Academic Year 2022-2023 as part of the PhD Program in German Studies at MSU. The Digital Humanities at MSU is a field leader, with a vibrant and diverse community of scholars, staff, and students.

Students have completed DH-based research and pedagogy projects relating to Kleist’s graphic novel.

Description:

  • Assist faculty in German on various digital humanities related research and pedagogy projects, such as the Graphic Narratives Network.
  • Work with unique on-campus resources, such as MSU Library’s world-leading Comic Art Collection and Digital Scholarship Lab.
  • Collaborate with the NEH and Mellon funded Humanities Commons project, led by Prof. Kathleen Fitzpatrick, Director of Digital Humanities at MSU.
  • Receive a full MSU tuition waiver, monthly stipend (9 months), health insurance (12 months), and the ability to apply for summer funding and travel money.
  • Technical skills related to digitally enhanced research and teaching as well as web site maintenance are also desirable.
