The Linguistics program offers regular opportunities for students and faculty to hear cutting-edge talks, share ongoing research, and obtain professional development.

External speaker talks are typically offered through the Linguistics Colloquium, a series organized by the Linguistics graduate students.

For events organized by our undergraduate club, see the qUALMS (q Undergraduate Association for Linguistics at Michigan State) website. For events organized by our research groups and labs, go to the Linguistics groups and labs page.

2026-2027

Colloquia take place on Fridays at 3:00pm-4:30 pm ET. The talks last about 45-60 minutes with questions to follow for about 30 minutes. We also have an optional socializing period after the virtual talks. Details and abstracts are announced about a week before the talks.

To join the lin-colloq mailing list and receive timely announcements, Zoom links etc, contact 2026-2027 co-organizers Anqi Shao (shaoanqi@msu.edu) and Millie Hacker (hackermi@msu.edu).
