Assistant Professor of Hebrew wins MSU Award for Outstanding Service to Education Abroad

Dr. Yore Kedem, who leads the Jewish Studies Summer Program at Hebrew University in Jerusalem, was honored with MSU’s Award for Outstanding Service to Education Abroad. In Kedem’s innovative program, students’ education abroad experiences concentrate on inquiry projects. They choose their own topics, conduct interviews, and write research papers, creating stronger ties between their education abroad experiences and the rest of their learning career at MSU. In the coming year, Kedem is also offering a new program that will be a collaboration between the Honors College and the Serling Institute for Jewish Studies and Modern Israel. These projects, along with the classes that students take before departure and after return allow Kedem to introduce to students the complexity of modern Israel.
