MSU’s 28th Annual UURAF Showcases Undergraduate Research and Creative Work

Michigan State University’s 28th annual University Undergraduate Research and Arts Forum (UURAF) takes place in person on April 17 at MSU’s Breslin Center and asynchronously online on April 16 and 17, hosted on Symposium by ForagerOne. This hybrid event will feature research, scholarship, and creative work in multiple formats from hundreds of MSU undergraduate students, including many students from the College of Arts & Letters.

The event runs from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. with four presentation sessions planned throughout the day and more than 210 posters presented during each session. Presentation topics are divided into 30+ categories throughout all sessions. A creative arts showcase also will be available for viewing throughout the event.

Many College of Arts & Letters faculty and graduate students mentor the undergraduate student research projects being presented at this year’s UURAF, including several mentors from the Department of Linguistics, Languages, and Cultures.

Held each spring, UURAF provides MSU undergraduate students with an opportunity to share their work with the MSU community. Student participants gain experience presenting their research and answering questions about their work while receiving constructive feedback from judges.

An awards ceremony is scheduled for Friday, April 24, from 1 to 2:45 p.m. at the Kellogg Hotel and Conference Center. One first-place award of $100 will be given in each presentation category. First-place award recipients are then eligible to submit their work for consideration for a UURAF Grand Prize, $500 award. One grand prize will be awarded in the arts, humanities, and social sciences related categories and the other in the science, engineering, and mathematics related categories. Grand prize recipients will be notified by mid-June.

Both the UURAF presentations and awards ceremony are free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
